How to trade

Better prices, faster speed, and more control

To get started, you'll need a crypto wallet with some cryptocurrency in it. This usually includes stablecoins such as USDT or USDC, along with the network's native token (like ETH, BNB, or SOL) to pay for transaction fees.

You’ll need:

Types of Transactions You Need to Know

Birdeye believes that this is the most important thing you need to do first to trade effectively.

Here are 3 types of transactions you'll need to know:

Type 1: SWAP

You'll use "swap" when you're talking about exchanging one cryptocurrency for another on the same blockchain network.

And then…

You need to:

  • Choose the token you'll use for payment
  • Enter the amount for the transaction.

Finally, you need to:

  • Click 'GIVE PERMISSION TO SWAP', then ‘Confirm’

You may find helpful:

When you trade, you can choose an aggregator (like Jupiter on Solana, 1inch on EVM chains, or OKX DEX Aggregator).

  • Aggregators scan multiple DEXs at once and pick the best price and liquidity route
  • This avoids large slippage and makes sure you get the most tokens possible

💡On Birdeye, the Swap feature already comes with a built-in aggregator, so users always get the best quotes.

Type 2: BRIDGE

You can use “Bridge” to transfer a token from one blockchain to another, or even to swap different tokens across blockchains.

Click on “Bridege” and then…

You need to:

  • Choose the token and blockchain you’ll use for payment.
  • Enter the transaction amount.
  • Select the token and blockchain you want to receive.
  • Click ‘Confirm trade’ ⇒ ‘Approve’

Finally, you need to:

  • Click ‘Confirm’

Type 3: BUY (On-ramp)

This is a good option for those who want to buy tokens using fiat currency (like USD, EUR,...).

You need to:

  • Choose the fiat currency you’ll use for payment.
  • Enter the transaction amount.
  • Select the token you want to receive.
  • Proceed with the payment.

💡Pro tips

Birdeye allows you to customize Advanced Options before confirming a trade.

These settings vary depending on which blockchain you’re trading on.

Here you can customize:

  • Slippage mode: Dynamic / Fixed
    • Dynamic: Suitable for tokens with low liquidity or highly volatile prices. Purpose: To avoid failed transactions.
    • Fixed: Suitable for tokens with high liquidity and medium/low volatility. Purpose: Minimize volatility risk and save costs.
  • Priority fee: Fast, Turbo, Ultra (choose higher speed when the network is congested)
  • Jito tip: Add a small incentive to validators so your trade is processed faster and is less likely to be front-run

That’s it!

Now you understand:

  • The 3 types of transactions (SWAP, BRIDGE, BUY).
  • How to trade smarter using Advanced Options.

With these tools, you’re ready to trade on Birdeye with better prices, faster speed, and more control.

Good luck with your investments!
